Ingredients

BBQ Rub:
2 tbsp
brown sugar

BBQ Butter:
½ cup
unsalted butter, room temperature
125 mL
1 tbsp
brown sugar
15 mL

garlic cloves, minced

Sterling Silver top sirloin steaks, at least 1½ inch (3¾ cm) thick

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your grill at medium-high heat. Clean and oil the grates.

Step 2

BBQ Rub: Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Measure out ¼ cup (60 mL) mixture into a small bowl. Add steaks to remaining mixture in large bowl. Rub mixture all over steaks. Set aside.

Step 3

BBQ Butter: Stir butter, brown sugar and garlic into reserved BBQ Rub until combined. Set aside at room temperature.

Step 4

Grill steaks until cooked to 63°C (145°F) on an instant-read thermometer for medium-rare, 3 to 4 mins. per side, or to desired doneness. Transfer steaks to a cutting board and let rest for 5 mins.

Step 5

Slice steak, then arrange on plates. Dollop 2 tbsp BBQ Butter overtop steak.

Tip

Refrigerate or freeze any leftover butter for future use.
If you have time, marinate steaks with BBQ Rub and refrigerate up to 8 hr. prior to grilling. The longer it marinates, the more flavourful the steaks will be.
Keep a close eye on steaks while grilling so it does not burn due to the rub’s sugar content.
