Delicious marbling, consistent texture and expertly trimmed cuts of meat are all qualities you can expect from Aspen Ridge® Premium Beef. But do you know how far this company goes to offer you and your family great quality beef? The Certified Humane logo on every package means they’ve ensured premium care begins back on the farm.
What it takes to become Certified Humane
A rigorous, third-party certification system, the Certified Humane process starts from day one: newborn calves remain with their mothers to be pasture-raised in a pure Angus herd. “They all grow up together,” explains Aspen Ridge® brand manager, Mark Dumont. At about six months of age, calves are weaned into the next pasture to keep families close and minimize stress. “They’re always side-by-side.”
Inspections at the farm ensure all cattle are handled gently in low-stress environments with ample space to engage in natural behaviours. Cattle are raised without the use of antibiotics, without the use of added hormones and are fed a vegetable grain based diet.
What this means for you
Simply put, this beef is Certified Humane and the end result is a great quality, wholesome and tasty product. From steaks to roasts to ground beef, Aspen Ridge® Premium Beef is a choice you can feel good about.
Great Recipe Ideas:
Steaks
There are many different varieties of steak, from flank to filet mignon. Start by pulling the steaks from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking. Cook using desired method to preferred degree of doneness.
- Seared Steak with Horseradish Sauce and Sweet Potato Fries
- Honey Garlic Beef Stir-Fry
- Citrus & Pomegranate Beef Salad
Stewing beef
For rich-tasting stews, take the time to pat dry and brown the beef before cooking. This will help with caramelization and release the delicious beef flavour into your stew.
Ground beef
There are many tasty ways to use versatile ground beef. Browning is an essential step in most recipes, as it not only cooks the meat but also releases all the flavour compounds and makes the rest of the dish taste even better. Be sure to use a skillet on medium to medium-high heat to get the best sear on the meat, breaking it down into smaller and smaller chunks until it’s cooked through and there is no pink visible.
