Baked into pastries, tossed into salads or nibbled on by the handful — blackberries add a tart bite to just about anything. For a fresh twist on relish, simmer halved blackberries with grated beets, apple cider vinegar, sugar and salt. Use the sweet-tart relish to top sausages, grilled pork tenderloin or any variety of burgers.
Look for blackberries that are evenly ripe. Avoid berries that are green or wrinkled. Blackberries are best stored in the fridge for a day or two and should be eaten at room temperature.
